GOG revived another classic, Breath of Fire IV is available on PC
From Dreamlist to reality, the GOG Preservation Program has done it again. This time, Breath of Fire IV and seven other games are getting their PC re-release.

The Breath of Fire IV in particular is considered one of the best in the franchise, thanks to its storytelling and dual protagonist structure. These days, it’s seen as a hidden gem from the PlayStation 1 era. And if you’re a longtime fan, here’s a nice surprise: Breath of Fire IV is now available on PC through GOG!
Breath of Fire IV returns
GOG.com posted on X today that, 25 years after its original PlayStation 1 release, Breath of Fire IV is back, thanks to over 22,000 ionate fans who ed it through the GOG Dreamlist.
This updated version is fully optimized for today’s PCs, featuring for Windows 10 and 11, enhanced DirectX rendering, new display options like Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, refined gamma correction, and a reworked audio engine with restored environmental sounds and new sound configuration options. It also includes both English and Japanese text (with Japanese audio only), staying true to the original release.
All of this comes courtesy of the GOG Preservation Program. Alongside Breath of Fire IV, seven more classic games have been re-released to help preserve PC gaming history:
- Ultima II
- Ultima IX: Ascension
- Worms Armageddon
- Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood
- Realms of the Haunting
- Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon
- Stonekeep
