Today, we learned that Supergiant Games’ sequel, Elden Ring, and more.

Hades 2 will launch as a console exclusive on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

The news of Hades 2’s exclusivity appeared at the end of today’s Creator’s Voice video on Nintendo’s YouTube channel. The Creator’s Voice series has been featuring various developers from the Switch 2 Direct every day since it aired, and today Supergiant Games was highlighted. At the end of the video, an informational image shared that Hades 2 will be “launching first for consoles on Nintendo Switch 2.” The Supergiant social media page has since clarified that this also includes the original Switch.

Hades 2 has been available in Early Access on Steam for almost a year but has not shared plans for when it would reach 1.0. The announcement during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct does confirm that the full game will launch sometime later this year, but PlayStation and Xbox players will likely have to wait longer. The original Hades is available nearly everywhere at this point, so fans who enjoyed the game on those consoles or even on mobile via Netflix, might feel like they are missing out on the sequel.

To get a sense of when other console players should expect to gain access to Hades 2, the original game was released on PC and Switch in September 2020 and on Xbox and PlayStation in August 2021. If Hades 2 is similar in its console exclusivity, which is not guaranteed, it could be less than a year after its initial launch that the sequel comes to other consoles. This seems reasonable, but we have no confirmation of the length of this exclusivity at the time of writing. Nintendo has shown that they want to have an impressive third-party lineup with the Switch 2, so the exclusivity could change this time around.

Even with 2025’s already impressive lineup of games, including Blue Prince, many still expect Hades 2 to be a Game of the Year contender this year. It helps that Early Access has given many players the opportunity to try the sequel out already. The original Hades was nominated at the Game Awards in 2020, so it makes sense that the sequel will follow suit, especially if it maintains the quality already noted in Early Access. On Steam, out of over 58 thousand players, the reviews for Hades 2 are 94% positive.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been the delay of pre-orders in the U.S. as they evaluate the impact of sweeping tariffs.
