The house is unlocked fairly quickly, at the end of the second chapter. All you need to do is to follow the main story. After we are separated from the professor for the second time, our character hears a shout and runs to investigate its source. At this point we are reunited with more friends and, at the end of the cutscene, we are proud owners of a house, which can be freely decorated.
