Yesterday we got an update on Sloclap’s soccer game, Rocket League. Yesterday’s new trailer revealed the release date, but there is also a closed beta weekend happening right now.
ReMatch, the soccer game from Sifu devs, has a release date for this summer
Rather than simulating a fairly accurate experience, with large teams and a top-down perspective where the player swaps characters as they the ball, ReMatch takes a different approach. The field is much smaller with only five players on each team. Each player controls a single character. There’s no way to knock the ball out of play, instead it bounces off the sides, offering tactical ricochet es. Goalie also is not a dedicated position; teammates are able to swap in and out of the goalie box as needed.
The new minute-long trailer highlighted ReMatch’s golden rules, including “play as a team” and “keepers are sweepers” but the number one rule of course, is “never give up” as the team makes a comeback to tie up the game. The characters on the field are shown to have electricity built up on their legs or hands depending on what position they are playing. In-game shouts will also signal to teammates that you are open for a or ready to take a shot on goal.
The end of the trailer revealed a release date set for June 19th, which is much sooner than expected, considering this game was revealed just a handful of months ago. But what wasn’t apparent in the trailer was that ReMatch is also having a closed beta weekend right now. To gain access on either Steam, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S, you’ll need to sign up to the newsletter and wait for an invitation. At this time, it’s not clear if the closed beta will have crossplay or not.
To sign up for the chance for a beta invitation, you’ll need to visit ReMatch’s website and sign up for their newsletter. Pick your platform of preference, enter your email, name, and region, then click confirm in the confirmation email and you’ll be added to the list of potential invitees. This is the first beta period, and it’s only lasting this weekend, but there are plans for more in the future if you miss this one or don’t sign up in time for an invite.
