Remedy has announced remakes of the first two installments of the Max Payne series. Development costs are to be covered by Rockstar Games.

Remakes are to be sold together, combined into a single title (similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection).

  1. The project is currently at concept stage. The release date is unknown.
  2. The target platforms are PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
  3. The remakes will be powered by Remedy's own engine - Northlight - known i.a. from Quantum Break.
  4. Rockstar is expected to cover all costs associated with the development, marketing and distribution. After the release, the Finnish developer can count on royalties.
  5. The budget of the project is to be on the level of any other AAA game from Remedy.
  6. From the content of the information posted by Remedy, it seems that it was the Finnish studio that came up with the initiative to create the remakes, ing Rockstar, who enthusiastically accepted the venture.

History of the series

Remedy is responsible for creating Max Payne 3 was developed entirely - without the Finnish developer's involvement - by Rockstar.

  1. Rockstar Games also owns the IP rights to the series.

Other Remedy projects

Remedy is currently working on several games, including Condor.
