Metroid Dread Announced; Iconic Series Returns in 2D
Samus Aran will finally get a new adventure. Nintendo has announced Metroid Dread (or Metroid 5), apparently a sequel to the iconic Metroid Fusion.
The Nintendo Direct presentation is, in a way, the culmination of E3 2021 (if we exclude the Capcom show and Microsoft's extra broadcast). One of the attractions prepared by Nintendo was the presentation of the new installment of the Metroid Prime 4, but the side-scrolling Metroid Dread.
The game is a new incarnation of a canceled project from a dozen years ago, and its trailer describes it as Metroid 5. Nintendo has confirmed that the first 2D Metroid is the long-awaited sequel to the iconic Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and older releases). Metroid Dread will be released on October 8.
