Fans Complain of Lack of Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat Trailer
The Mortal Kombat trailer, which was otherwise warmly received, failed to satisfy the fans entirely. They resent the absence of Johnny Cage in the trailer and movie's promo materials.

The absence of the movie star fighter in the video may indeed be surprising. Johnny Cage has accompanied the series from the very beginning and, together with Scorpion, Sub-Zero and other fighters from the first Mortal Kombat, is a flagship character for the series. Meanwhile, the character the only one completely absent from the trailers or posters. Cage has also appeared in all screen adaptations of the franchise to date.
We'd like to point out that we don't have any official information regarding Cage's presence or lack thereof in the new Mortal Kombat. Nevertheless, his absence from the trailer (and from the cast list) has fans abuzz with speculation. Back in January, some suggested that he could be replaced by Cole Young (a character recently introduced to the Mortal Kombat universe ), or, true to his name, Young is actually a younger Johnny Cage with a name change (in the original, Cage's real name is Jonathan Carlton). However, the similarities between them pointed out by internet s seem to be a bit far fetched.
Others argue that Johnny Cage - immature, egotistical, annoying to his enemies and friends alike - simply doesn't fit the serious tone of the new Mortal Kombat. So the producers may have removed the actor from the film. The same internet s also believe that after the possible success of the film Cage will return in the sequel. The truth will be revealed after the premiere. Mortal Kombat will debut on April 16 in cinemas and on HBO Max.
