Myst Remake in Game Will be a Visual Feast in 4K
We've learned the technical details of the Myst remake, which will hit Xbox Series X/S and Game consoles next week.
Microsoft yesterday but now an entry has appeared on the official blog with information on the technical aspects of the next-gen release.
The game is to run at 60 fps in 4K on Xbox Series X. The same frame rate will be achieved on the Xbox S Series, but in 1440p. These will not be native resolutions. Myst will be one of the first games on XSX/S to use AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, a technology prepared as an answer to Nvidia's DLSS. So the image will be a little less sharp in some places, but the solution will provide a 75% increase in performance.
Lower sharpness when using AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution can be seen mainly in distant objects.
Recall that Myst will be available to Game subscribers on August 26 and will be playable by owners of Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game will also be available in the cloud (xCloud).
The remake was developed by Cyan, the same team that was responsible for the original. The refreshed Myst was released last December on PC and Oculus Quest. The release day on Game is also expected to be the production's debut date on Xbox consoles, and it will also be available for purchase in digital distribution outside of the subscription.
It is worth mentioning that in the past Myst has been refreshed many times. The first version of the game was released in 1993 on Macintosh computers, and a year later it appeared on Windows PCs. Remaster entitled Myst: Masterpiece Edition debuted in May 2000, and six months later a remake hit the market in the form of realMYST: Masterpiece Edition, released in 2014.
