After the success of Doom Eternal in 2020, hardly anyone re that the series could have gone in a completely different direction. What Doom 4 was supposed to look like is shown in a YouTube video by Colonel Melnyk, who collected some materials from the canceled installment of the game. You can see the result below.

The first footage from the would-be Doom 4 appeared even before the release of the final version of the game, when a video showing the canceled title in action Battlefield series than the previous Doom games. At least that's what Bethesda thought, although both old and new materials seem to confirm their decision was correct. Some of the animations, models, screens, etc. would have matched the IP, but the gameplay footage shown at the end actually brings to mind CoD-style game (or rather more its bland imitators) rather than a dynamic, even over-the-top shooter like the last two Dooms.
