No more „slideshow” in the refreshed version of GTA 3. Liberty City became more alive, but it cost devs a lot of work
Responsible for the „port” of GTA 3 to the Dreamcast console, Falco Girgis announced that the project underwent quite a few changes, which resulted in better fluidity of the game on Sega's device.

Late last year, we reported on the release of the port of Grand Theft Auto 3 for the Sega Dreamcast console. The project, although interesting, was released in alpha version, so its quality left much to be desired. The game was plagued by poor optimization, which made the gameplay feel more like a slideshow.
Fortunately, the project's creators didn't give up and introduced many changes aimed at improving the game's fluidity on Sega's device. Falco Girgis, a representative of the group, recently boasted about the effects and progress of the work through X.
Besides detailing the entire process (with technical jargon, the developer explained that he had to optimize the game engine almost from scratch), the post included a video that clearly shows the game now runs much more smoothly. The virtual Liberty City appears to be significantly more populated than the world from the earlier version of the port's materials.
The progress on the GTA 3 port is impressive because a group of fans is GTA: Vice City, to Dreamcast. So, if you have a Sega console somewhere in your attic, it's worth dusting it off because you might be able to play both installments of this cult gangster series on it in the near future.
