Games getting copied by other developers is nothing new, unfortunately – it’s been happening for years, with popular titles often becoming targets for cheap imitations. But 50K+ players overnight – has been getting so many rip-offs that it’s getting a little out of hand. Some have already been taken down, but now, yet another one seems to be in the works.

Scam alert! Fake R.E.P.O. games are showing up on PS store

R.E.P.O. launched on Steam in Early Access on February 26, 2025, and as of now (March 20), that’s the only place you can play it. There’s no word yet on a mobile release, but somehow, lookalike games are already popping up on Google Play and the App Store. Just a heads-up – they’re not the real deal.

The developers have implemented anti-hacking measures to protect the game, but stopping knockoffs on other platforms is a much bigger challenge.

A few weeks ago, R.E.P.O.: Ghost Haul appeared on the multiplayer.

The easiest way to spot them is by checking the developer or publisher info. The real R.E.P.O. is developed by semiworks, a small studio from Sweden, and they haven’t released or announced their game on PS5 or Xbox. Another red flag is the lack of any trailers or gameplay screenshots – if those are missing, it’s probably not legit.

Been with gamepressure.androidapks.biz since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or iring my collection of retro consoles.
