Koei Tecmo has announced Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake, a thoroughly refreshed version of the strategy game released on PlayStation 2 in 2003. The game, overseen by producer Kou Shibusawa, is headed for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The title is set to debut in early 2024, and will stand out from the original with new visuals and upgraded mechanics.
- The plot of Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake will focus on the battles of three dynasties: Wu, Wei and Shu, striving to achieve dominance in the political and military spheres. The player's decisions will influence which one of them achieves the desired goal.
- The game will feature a variety of scenarios, including those based on historical facts. Each of them will be characterized by a different starting point, economic situation and location of cities under the player's control.
- Players will be given the opportunity to choose officers from among some 700 available characters. Each of them will be distinguished not only by rank, but also by skills and political beliefs.
- The game will be played in a turn-based system, while a single turn will correspond to one month. During its course, the player will be given a number of options for action, aimed at strengthening their position both militarily and economically. These include sending spies on missions, offering gifts to other rulers or even recruiting new soldiers for the army.
