- Sony is working on a new AI;
- It will help in creating realistic animations;
- Sony will use the technology in its PS5 exclusive titles.
Sony's Visual Arts Service Group (VASG) division is working on a new self-learning AI. This means that it will use what is known as machine learning. The technology is expected to help create realistic facial expressions for characters in video games. It will be used in Sony's exclusive titles for PlayStation 5.
The mechanism that VASG is using will make the animation of virtual characters much simpler and realistic at the same time. Current activities conducted by the team are a continuation of the development of the technology used in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The tools used in that game allowed for believable animations of character movements.
Currently, VASG's team is looking for more employees, so that it can continue to develop the AI. The effects of their work are to be applied in the next games of such series as Spider-Man. Such an open declaration may indicate that the work on the project is heading in the right direction.
