STALKER 2 Devs Change Subtitle, Get Rid of Russian Spelling
In connection with the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, GSC Game World decided to make a symbolic gesture by changing the subtitle of STALKER 2 so that the spelling corresponds to the Ukrainian language.

Today marks 19 days since Russian troops entered Ukraine, leading to a tragic war in the heart of Europe. Among the reactions, comments and actions to help those affected, there was also action from the video game industry.
A gesture worth noting is today's decision of GSC Game World to introduce a small change in the subtitle of suspension of work on this project due to the war. Fortunately, according to team , work will restart as soon as the situation allows it and everyone is safe.
The devil is in the details
So far, on the game's card on Steam we could read the English-language title STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, but it was changed - now the subtitle reads Heart of Chornobyl.
- Why does changing one letter in the subtitle matter? While no official explanation was given, this correction most likely relates to differences between Russian and Ukrainian spellings.
- "Chernobyl" is a transliteration from Russian, while "Chornobyl" is the Ukrainian version.
- In light of Vladimir Putin's military aggression against the country, it probably goes without saying which spelling seems more appropriate.
