Looking for an RTS with that classic Strategos, a large-scale war simulator where thousands of units clash right before your eyes. You’ll take command of armies from Rome, Persia, Macedonia, Greece, Carthage, and various Germanic or Italian tribes across different eras – nearly 100 factions in total, featuring over 200 unique unit types. Now that sounds like a solid way to spend a Sunday evening!

Strategos is when RTS battles get real

Strategos isn’t your typical RTS where units obey orders instantly, it’s not your average click-and-drag affair. Here, you’ve got to work for it. The game features a realistic command and control system, meaning your generals’ positioning matters, orders take time to go through, and sometimes your troops will charge ahead, retreat in panic, or just straight-up ignore you if their morale breaks. Things could get chaotic, unpredictable, and honestly, that’s what makes it stand out and feel real. This could be a game-changer compared to Total War, bringing some fresh ideas to the genre.

The mechanics go deep – flanking, morale shocks, terrain effects, and fog of war. It’s all about strategy and adapting on the fly. In many ways, it feels like a digital tabletop wargame.

Strategos will feature both historical and custom battles, with plenty of settings to tweak, and aside from a classic single-player mode, you can also go head-to-head with a friend in hot seat multiplayer.

Right now, Strategos is still in pre-alpha, and things are evolving fast. The solo dev is already building a basic campaign mode focused on Alexander the Great's conquests. We're looking at a few months for a demo and maybe six months for early access on Steam, but those dates aren't set in stone. Patience might be key with this one, but it’s definitely a game to keep an eye on.

Been with gamepressure.androidapks.biz since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or iring my collection of retro consoles.
