The Witcher 3 Now Delivers 'Best Experience Yet' on Consoles
CD Projekt RED is relentless in improving the next-gen edition of The Witcher 3. This art is achieved especially on consoles, as the video, full of details, comparing version 4.02 with older releases, proves.

Last December, CD Projekt RED released an enhanced version of poor optimization. The developers rolled up their sleeves and started preparing the required fixes.
- The latest of these , subsequently ed by a hotfix), has also arrived on current-gen consoles and, according to Digital Foundry experts, provides the "best experience yet" on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
- This is undoubtedly good news for gamers, but also a big relief for CDP, since the previous update - patch 4.01 - had a very negative impact on frame rate (even in performance mode).
- The bugs have been fixed, and as DF's footage shows, the patch had a significant positive impact on the fps count.
- After testing the title at various moments of gameplay, the Digital Foundry team found that the performance mode now provides an almost constant 60 frames per second (almost, because Novigrad is still a challenge).
- Things are slightly worse when it comes to the ray tracing mode, which in places can slow down the game on consoles to less than 30 fps.. Developers should therefore look into this problem in the future.
In summary, Digital Foundry's analysis shows that after update 4.02 the most spectacular change can be seen on XSX, where the number of frames increased by up to 10. At the same time, the editors note that Microsoft's device has had more performance problems than Sony's platform since the release of next-gen The Witcher 3.
