The Witcher 4 without downgrade? Game Director responds to players concerns, media predicts target platforms
The Witcher 4 raises both iration and hardware concerns after the presentation of a tech demo on State of Unreal. To questions about a potential downgrade, director Sebastian Kalemba answered briefly and with optimism.

The tech demo of The Witcher 4 turned out to be an excellent ad for the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. However, after the dust had settled from the show, there were doubts about the hardware that would be able to properly display Ciri's adventures. At the suggestion of Marcin "Del" Lukanski about a potential "downgrade" in the graphics of The Witcher 4, Sebastian Kalemba - the game's director - responded with a brief "Don't worry ;)( "Spokojnie" in Polish)."
The statement may suggest that the devs don't expect a deterioration in the visual quality of the fourth Witcher. The demo was launched on the base PlayStation 5, and yet it ran at 60 fps.
However, as the developers emphasized, the presentation is far from what we will see in the final version of the game. That's why some fans are wondering if The Witcher 4 is being made more with the PS6 in mind rather than the PS5. Players' doubts should not be surprising, also due to the performed absolutely terribly.
The topic was also addressed by industry experts (including IGN). Among journalists, however, there is a belief that The Witcher 4 will be released on both PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, as well as on the next generation of consoles. The new installment of the RPG series from CD Projekt Red studio (according to the developers' assurances) won't be released before 2027. Considering potential delays in development, we may have to wait for the launch until 2029 or even longer.
It's very likely that by that time, both Sony and Microsoft will reveal or even release new hardware. It's been over 4 years since the release of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the next generations of consoles usually hit the market roughly every 7 years.
Although the release of The Witcher 4 is still far away, it doesn't prevent the game from winning awards. The first trailer for the title (prepared tly by CD Projekt RED and Platige Image) received the Gold Cube award at the ADC Awards 2025 gala.
