Total War: Warhammer 3 is getting a new DLC that will show some love to a heavily neglected faction
More new features are heading to Total War: Warhammer 3, with the Tides of Torment add-on announcement. The second of the three legendary lords will be Sayl the Faintless.

The developers of Total War: Warhammer 3 have revealed some new features that will be added to the game with the expansion Tides of Torment. Among them, we will find primarily three new legendary lords. We met the first one - Dechala the Denied One - some time ago. Now it's time for the second one, who is Sayl The Faithless.
Sayl and new units
A new legendary lord will the Norsca faction and is described by the developers as "one of the most powerful wizards in the game." Unlike other legends, Sayl doesn't lead an army where he tries to demonstrate his strength; instead, he focuses on manipulating others. He convinces his opponents that he is their ally, then betrays them. The downside of this play style is that the number of enemies nearby keeps increasing.
Sayl also stands out for having two "spell lords" to choose from, which gives him considerable versatility. As a Norscan, he will be able to raid settlements, destroy them, or dedicate them to the gods of Chaos. There's also a special feature connected to him that we'll use to plan, carry out, and receive rewards for betrayals. Initially, the developers planned a full overhaul of the diplomacy system, but they considered it a "quite dangerous thing to do."
Apart from Sayl, we also got a glimpse of several new units:
- Nightmaw - a creature created from the combination of several "unfortunate buddies of Sayl's wizards." In the game, you'll be able to use Sayl's ability to cast spells on enemies;
- Fimir Noble - his strengths are moving in the shadow, casting spells, and surprising enemies. Additionally, he will provide bonuses to the remaining Fimir units in the army;
- Chimera - a three-headed, flying monster with great versatility and mobility in combat. Each of his heads has different attacks.
Norsca rework
The creators listened to the fans who asked for some love for the Norsca factions and are making some big changes to them. The whole race is getting an update on how Monstrous Arcanum, Chaos Gods Allegiance, and confederation dilemmas work.
Individual fractions will also be adjusted. For instance, Wulfrik's ship, Seafang, currently functions as a combat ability, but thanks to the expansion, it will actually be located on the campaign map, serving as a convenient means of transport. On the other side, Throgg will receive an extra mechanic, allowing him to use his influence on other monsters to him in combat.
The Tides of Torment expansion will be released this summer. Apart from Sayl and Dechala, there will be another paid legendary lord, but their identity hasn't been revealed yet. The fourth lord will be made available for free.
Furthermore, the 6.2 update is "just around the corner," and it will introduce improvements to the ancillaries system. Particular focus was placed on those who seem less useful. There will also be no shortage of new units: Blood Knights with shields and swords, and Hobgoblin Bolt Throwa.
