The much-loved Devil May Cry game series has received a new adaptation in the form of an anime, which debuted on Netflix on April 3. The production was well received by viewers and critics, as can be seen on Rotten Tomatoes, from which it got 61% and 96% positive reviews, respectively. So we can talk about success, which has worked up the appetites of new and old DMC fans, curious to see if the production will continue. Let's take a look at the topic.

Will Netflix make Devil May Cry season 2?

After only a week of release, it has been Devil May Cry on Netflix, to be released soon. Specifics on the release date have not yet been revealed. The quick decision to extend the production is not a bit surprising, given how good DMC's performance is – from March 31-April 6 it ranked No. 4 of Netflix's top 10 with 5.3 million views, which translates into 21 million hours watched. By comparison, the first season of Arcane was watched for 34.17 million hours after its release, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners for 14.88 million hours.

Anime creator Adi Shankar in 2021, in an interview with IGN, confessed that he is interested in developing the story further. He planned the story as a “multi-season arc” as in the case of Castlevania, which he also produced.

Netflix is adding more and more anime to its library all the time. On the streaming giant's platform you'll find such productions as Dandadan, Castlevania and the latest Moonrise. And it looks like there will be even more, and one of the new releases that anime fans will be waiting for is the second season of Devil May Cry.

For now viewers have to enjoy the 8 episodes made available on April 3, because, as is Netflix's custom, the anime was made available in its entirety in one day.
