1954: Alcatraz is a classic adventure with a point-n-click interface. We play the role of a convict trying to escape from the title prison. Playing is about searching the location, conducting conversations and solving riddles. The plot is largely non-linear, and the game offers several alternative endings.
1954: Alcatraz is a noir thriller, created by Irresponsible Games and currently in development at Daedalic Entertainment in Hamburg, . You play as Joe Lyons, doing 40 years on Alcatraz for robbing an armored truck. Joe has to escape Alcatraz to save his wife.
You also play as Christine, his wife. She has to find the loot that Joe hid away, and line things up on the outside for his escape. She also may find out a little more than she wanted to know about her husband.
You can change between Joe and Christine at any time.
Mickey the gangster is the villain. He’ll kill Christine if he doesn’t get the loot. Joe stole it from him…apparently.
The setting is 1950’s San Francisco, so Christine is in the Beat era, with crazy writers, poets, painters, jazz musicians...the whole bohemian coffeehouse scene.
This is a prison escape, so we have adult situations—shankings, drug deals, blackmail, infidelity, and murder.
Will Joe escape? Will Christine find the loot? Will she kiss him at the end…or kill him?
