Atomic Picnic is a shooter with roguelike elements, inspired by arena survival games. The game was developed by BitCake Studio - an independent team from Brazil, with projects such as Holodrive in their portfolio.

Unlike most arena survival titles, Atomic Picnic doesn't show the action from a bird's eye view, but from a third-person perspective (TPP). The gameplay is largely based on a scheme reminiscent of productions like Halls of Torment.

During the game we take control of a character who ends up on various arenas used for dynamic battles with hordes of enemies. We defeat opponents with a rich arsenal that includes rifles, shotguns, and grenade launchers. In addition to this, from time to time we have to face much more powerful bosses.

We are also given access to a tool known as Air Gear. This is kind of an energy rope with a grappling hook that allows us to quickly float above the battlefield and cover considerable distances in the air. Thanks to it, we can improve moving around the map, gain an advantage over opponents, or simply evacuate when things get too hot around us.

As we progress, we accumulate experience and develop character skills, as well as unlock new weapons and improve the ones we already have. The upgrades made available to us are chosen randomly, so each game is an opportunity to create a slightly different hero or heroine.

Co-op

Atomic Picnic allows to play alone, but it really shines in online co-op mode for up to 4 people.
