Published by Merge Games studio, Better Late Than Dead for PC and PS4 is a survival sandbox game by Odin Game – the creators of Enforcer: Police Crime Action from 2014.
Gameplay
The hero arrives at a mysterious, seemingly paradisiac island where he needs to fight for survival and get out of this horrid place. The core element of the game is the mentioned survival. However, coping with the island’s reality is not easy – as it is a survival game with an open world, the player has to engage in many activities to continue the protagonist’s existence in this hostile environment. The hero has to quench thirst, sate hunger, fight off dangerous animals like wolves, sharks, snakes, and bears, and also withstand changing weather, as bad aura can lead to hypothermia. It is important to monitor the hero’s body condition, because any broken bone or blood loss may turn out to be deadly.
Plot
Better Late Than Dead features a quite immersive plot that introduces a number of obstacles. The hero arrives at the mentioned island with no memories – the only thing close to him is a mysterious picture showing a person that might be the hero during his childhood or someone completely different, yet close to him. However, this is not the only puzzle to be solved. During the world exploration you can come across traces of a suspicious animal activity that cannot exist in our world. Subsequent mysteries only make matters worse and seemingly lead to more confusion.
Game modes
Better Late Than Dead published on PC and PS4 introduces a crafting system and procedurally generated items that are vital in leaving the island. The title also features multiplayer that allows for hosting private and public servers.
