An FPS maintained in a boomer shooter style, enriched with arena survival and roguelike elements. The playable characters from Bloodshed end up on the arenas where they have to face cultists, demons and the undead. We can gradually improve our skills and gain access to better gear. There are also permanent upgrades, which we keep even after we die.
Bloodshed is an FPS created in the convention of a boomer shooter. It was enriched with mechanics borrowed from the roguelike and arena survival genres. The game was developed by the independent German studio com8com1 Software, which has the game Rigid Force Redux in its portfolio.
In Bloodshed we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The pillar of the gameplay is the elimination of hordes of enemies, with whom we fight fierce battles on the arenas.
The game provides us with characters that vary in of skills and preferred weapons, as well as strengths and weaknesses. On our way, we encounter entire armies consisting of cultists, the undead, and demons, among others. In addition to the usual monsters appearing in large groups, we also regularly face much more powerful enemies serving as bosses.
The fights are dynamic. We make use of an arsenal, in which we will find a shotgun, a machine gun, a revolver, and more inventive murder tools, such as a rotary cannon or a magic staff. We can also try our hand at close combat, making use of melee weapons. Additionally, the game allows us to choose between manual and automatic aiming modes.
As we progress, we gain experience and develop our skills, as well as improve our existing equipment. Additionally, we collect currency, which we keep even after death, and can use it for permanent upgrades. Thanks to this, even if we fall on the battlefield, we can still be stronger than before during the next playthrough. We must always be on guard, as enemies are not blind to our actions and adjust their abilities and attack patterns accordingly.
The graphic design of Bloodshed was maintained in a retro style straight from the second half of the 1990s.
