Bud Spencer & Terrence Hill: Slaps and Beans in a two-dimensional beat ‘em up and a first licensed video game using the likeness of Bud (a stage name – his real name was Carlo Pedersoli) and Terence (Mario Girotti). Both actors starred in various action movies and westerns during 60’s and 70’s.

Plot

The plot of the game wasn’t based on any of the movies, but utilizes elements seen in many of them. Bud Spencer and Terence Hill take part in a new adventure begun with a simple job. Unfortunately, the situation quickly escalates, as a woman is kidnapped, the heroes’ money has been stolen, while the whole affair is orchestrated by a group of bad people.

Mechanics

When it comes to mechanics, Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: Slaps and Beans is a classic beat ‘em up with platform and racing game elements. The heroes are tasked with defeating encountered opponents, which involves hitting them with a slap – Bud’s cult-classic move. The mechanics are rather simple, but require agility. Battles are not all there is, as from time to time, we can e.g. ride horses or take part in car racing.

During their adventure, the heroes traverse a wide range of varied locations. We visit e.g. a Wild West city, a grocery store, or a well-guarded warehouse.
