A first-person survival horror, in which we observe the action using the so-called body cam attached to the character's chest. Chasmal Fear allows to play alone or in coop. We explore the underwater Magnus city, facing horrifying creatures. Monsters can evolve into their deadlier versions after they die and sometimes it's better to rely on stealth.

Chasmal Fear is a survival horror game realized in the form of a shooter. The action is presented from the so-called bodycam - a camera attached to the chest of our protagonist. The game was developed by the independent studio MystiveDev from Macedonia, which has a similar genre project Mirror Forge in its portfolio.

Gameplay

In Chasmal Fear we view the events from a first-person perspective (FPP).

Combat and stealth

We explore the darkened rooms and corridors of the underwater Magnus city. It's crucial be on guard, as this place has been taken over by aggressive, terrifying monsters. The game allows us to engage in open combat with opponents, as well as sneak and slip behind their backs without drawing attention to ourselves.

Engaging in combat is performed using a firearm which is at our disposal. Nevertheless, ammunition is a scarce commodity here, which forces us to save it for later. Moreover, some monsters can mutate after death, making them even more dangerous. This means that threats can lurk for us even in locations we have already visited.

Puzzles, data collection and choices

On the way, we solve puzzles and gather information (coming from sources such as audio diaries or emails), thanks to which we gradually discover what led to the place looking the way it does. From time to time we also have to make decisions that affect the course of the story. Our choices influence which paths will open up before us, and which ones will be blocked.

Co-op

Chasmal Fear allows for single-player gameplay or cooperative mode over the Internet. The difficulty level is adjusted according to the number of players.
