The second installment in a series of adventure games starring a pair of chicken detectives. Chicken Police: Into the HIVE! is a noir crime story, featuring elements of a point & click game and a visual novel.
Chicken Police: Into the HIVE! is an adventure game with point & click and visual novel elements. It was developed by The Wild Gentlemen and is heavily inspired by noir crime fiction, especially movies from the 1940s. It's a sequel to the warmly received Chicken Police: Paint it Red!, once again starring anthropomorphic animals.
The returning protagonists of the previous installment - once-legendary chicken detectives Sonny Featherland and Marty McChicken - entangle themselves in a yet another intrigue threatening all of Clawville. Investigating a murder case, they end up delving into a dark insect world. They do not know their quest will involve facing the secrets of their own pasts.
Chicken Police: Into the HIVE! features over thirty locations to visit and over thirty NPCs to talk to. Some cannot help us, others will gladly divulge key information. The most uncooperative witnesses can be interrogated.
There's also plenty of analyzing traces and collecting evidence. Some objects must be examined from up close in search of valuable clues. We'll often need to revisit locations, finding new worthwhile leads. Our diligent police work grants us various ways to solve problems. Some of our activities take the form of mini-games.
Aside from the main story, the game features many side plotlines.
Just like the previous installment, Chicken Police: Into the HIVE! uses a monochromatic color palette. All the characters are anthropomorphic animals with human-like qualities. The game also uses real photos and photorealistic backgrounds.
