Cosmonautica for PC is a somewhat humoristic approach to sandbox space simulators. The game focuses on the economic aspect of the gameplay. It’s the second game developed by Chasing Carrots, an independent German studio known for its debut title – an arcade racing game called Pressure.
Plot
The player begins the game as a captain of a space ship. Our task is to build a small company focused around intergalactic trade. As a result, we have to explore the galaxy (built from randomly generated star systems) in search of various goods that are capable of creating a profit. We can pick up various quests found at space ports, further increasing the income of the company. Our spaceship often takes part in various scraps – many of the quests end with a firefight. Interestingly enough, aside from the main, sandbox mode, the game contains the ability to take part in single scenarios – the players can create and share them with other s.
Mechanics
Our ship is one of the focuses of the gameplay, requiring constant refueling and repairs, and viable for a number of modifications – for example, we can create a laboratory that will begin researching new technologies. The crew is another important element. We need to delegate tasks to its and take care of their needs and safety. However, from time to time we need to search for more qualified individuals that will help to increase the output of our company and the ship itself. This is not the end of our problems with the staff – our employees need to fit in with each other – feuds have a negative impact on efficiency.
Cosmonautica for PC is a singleplayer-only title, but there are a number of challenges and online statistics that serve a field of rivalry between different players.
