Developed on WarBirds engine, another advanced flight simulator from Interactive Magic, dedicated to multiplayer games. This time we sit at the helm of faithfully reproduced machines from the period of the First World War.
After the success of WarBirds, iEntertainment Network decided to follow the blow, creating a simulator for online gameplay based on the same engine. This time, however, we are moving in time more than 20 years earlier, sitting at the helm of planes from the period of the First World War.
During a multiplayer game, which is the main mode of play in Dawn of Aces, we choose one of the two sides of the conflict - Great Britain or - and set off to compete in the air with hundreds of players from around the world. Like its predecessor, the main goal of the game is to take over all airports owned by the opponent. The game is played on iMagic Online servers and uses WarBirds' voice communication system, which allows you to communicate with other players during combat. Compared to other MMO games, the title requires quite high monthly fees, although the authors have also kept the head-to-head mode, in which we can fight an air fight "one on one" with any friend of our choice.
A wide range of planes has been put at our disposal again, and the key to success in multiplayer competition is skillful mastering the parameters and characteristics of individual machines during offline training. In the game we sit at the helm of faithfully reproduced models such as Albatros, Bristol, Fokker, Sopwith Camel, Spad VII or Halberstadt. Unlike airplanes from the Second World War, here we are dealing with much lighter, slower and less armored machines, which has an impact on completely different impressions during the flight.
Like his protophile, Dawn of Aces also received a number of amendments, updates and three full-fledged versions, the last of which was published in 2003. However, the theme of World War I was not as thankful as it was supposed and the game did not achieve as stunning success as WarBirds. As a result, soon afterwards the developers stopped developing the game, concentrating all their efforts on the work on their flagship title.
