Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One is the first installment of an extensive feature DLC for the FPP shooter Doom Eternal, released in 2020. The creators of the series, i.e. veterans from the id Software studio, are responsible for developing the add-on. The Ancient Gods expansion, which has been run in a total of two parts, is fully independent and does not require a main game to run.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One is a new chapter in Doom Slayer's history. The killing of Khan Maykr, a representative of the highly developed ancient race in Doom Eternal, disturbed the balance. So the hero of the game must go to the kingdom of Urdak and once again face evil and confront a host of demons to save the world.
The gameplay in Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One does not differ from that in the main game. DLC offers more of the same, so once again we get an uncompromising FPP shooter, focusing on dynamic action and platform sequences in which we defeat the hellish creatures standing in our way. In addition, we visit previously unseen locations and fight against both already known and completely new demons.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One is for single player only.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One was developed on the same engine as the main game, i.e. id Tech 7. The game is characterized by detailed graphics and impressive execution, maintaining flawless optimization and the same hardware requirements. The DLC does not introduce any changes to the graphic design. Mick Gordon, known from the Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal soundtracks, is not responsible for new music.

FPS series being one of the forerunners of the first-person shooter genre. The series was created by id Software studio and has, so to speak, three "fathers" - John Carmack, John Romero and Tom Hall. Nevertheless, over the years, teams such as Midway Games and Nerve Software have also been involved in its development. Although the series made its debut on personal computers, over time it began to make its presence increasingly clear also on consoles, as well as on mobile devices.
