Cradle of Civilization is the title of another expansion to Europa Universalis IV – a popular turn-based strategy game developed by Paradox Development Studio. Similarly to the basic version of the game – which the expansion requires to be installed in order to work – the DLC debuted on PC.
Europa Universalis IV: Cradle of Civilization for PC focuses on the Middle East and Muslim empires. The add-on introduces many new features, changes and improvements, including new types of governments: a Persian government, heirs to Timur and Egyptian Mamluks. In addition to that, the developers provide the players with the possibility to create trading policies – by asg missions to merchants (not necessary ones focused on making money), the player can prepare for invasions or for spreading Islam.
In addition to that, now it is possible to create Islam schools – they generate followers who learn about the religion and faith. This provides the player with the possibility to increase his diplomatic power in a region. The list of most important novelties end with a greater impact on the armies (the introduction of military discipline makes it possible to stop using mercenaries in favor of regular soldiers) and with the possibility to abuse specific provinces. The latter provides easy income and work force, but it slows the development in long term.
Europa Universalis IV: Cradle of Civilization is based on the same technology as the base version of the game. The expansion doesn’t introduce any greater changes to the graphics or sounds of the game.
