Another expansion for EverQuest, released four years after the launch of the vanilla game. It was developed by Daybreak Game Company which oversees the franchise’s development. The add-on was created with both beginners and veterans in mind — for the latter, the level cap was increased to 75. This time around, the story focuses on a new race of the Drakkin which are a combination of humans and dragons.

EverQuest: The Serpent's Spine is the latest addition to Sony Online Entertainment's seven-year-old Sony Online Entertainment. Apart from a number of other elements, the most important novelty is the appearance, for the first time since the addition of Froglocks, of a new breed - Drakins.

Opposing the decisions of the Council of the Ancient Dragons of the Nest, six representatives of these powerful lizards, decided to take a dramatic step in defending their species. Thinking about the darker and darker looking future, they decided to create new beings, being a mixture of people and dragons - Drakins. These fast-growing hybrids (they reach full maturity in a few months) forget about their human roots and start their journey to Crescent Reach, the legendary city of their creators.
