Mechanics

In EXAPUNKS, we take control over robots operating inside computer systems. With their help, we hack the above-mentioned targets. To use them, we have to learn how to code - we get this knowledge by reading the fictitious Trash World News magazine (which can be printed so that the player can use it without any problems during the game). We will find not only various tutorials and tips but also secret information, the knowledge of which helps us to accomplish our tasks. Interestingly, after completing the mission, we can compare the code we have created with the works of other players. In addition, during breaks from hacking, we can try our hand at mini-games, such as Solitaire and HACK*MATCH, which, however, must be unlocked first, using our hacking skills.

Game modes

A substitute for multiplayer mode in EXAPUNKS are duels in which our robots stand up to fight against machines programmed by other players. The game also allows you to create your own networks and release them for other hackers (through the Steam Workshop), as well as to create files in .GIF format to present our hacking achievements in action.

Technical aspects

The two-dimensional graphics of EXAPUNKS are limited, but thanks to this, they successfully create a hacker-like atmosphere of films about hackers from the 1990s. During the game, we are accompanied by an electronic soundtrack.
