F.E.A.R. is a first-person shooter designed by creators of Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, The Matrix Online and the No One Lives Forever series. The acronym F.E.A.R. stands for First Encounter Assault and Recon, which is a name of a special government military unit designed for fighting all kinds of terrorist acitivity. All of the squad go through conventional training (shooting, melee combat, etc.), but are also trained in paranormal skills (e.g. superhuman speed, which works like the bullet-time in The Matrix movies).

The protagonist of F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault and Recon is a member of the eponymous group. He is sent with a dangerous mission to take back the Armacham Technology Corporation from the hands of unknown criminals.
