Geneforge 2: Infestation is an RPG that is a remastered version of Geneforge 2 released in 2003. It was a sequel of the Geneforge 1: Mutagen project). Similar to the original, the remaster was created by Spiderweb Software studio, specialized in the RPG genre.

Plot

Geneforge 2: Infestation takes us to a fantasy universe created for the first installment of the series. During the gameplay, we take on the role of one of the so-called Shapers - wizards able to bring various beings to life.

After our mage gets lost in the mountain wilderness, he discovers that ready-to-fight rebels have taken refuge there. It only depends on us whether the wizard decides to the rebels in battle or whether he will nip the rebellion in the bud. Similar to the first part of the series, our actions and choices we make affect the course of the story and its ending.

Mechanics

In Geneforge 2: Infestation we watch the action in an isometric view. The adventure leads us through dozens of diverse locations, which we traverse, engaging in conversations with neutral characters, completing quests and fighting adversaries.

The battles take place in turn-based mode. We can both take part in the battles on our own, using melee weapons, ranged weapons and various combat skills, as well as summon various creatures to fight for us. On the other hand, there is nothing preventing us from acting quietly, using diplomacy and deceit to avoid fighting or even switching to the enemy's side.

As we progress, we develop the character, gaining increasingly powerful equipment, as well as unlock new abilities and improve the ones we already have.

Technical aspects

While working on Geneforge 2: Infestation, the authors slightly refreshed the graphic design. In addition, the creators modernized the interface and systems, and also enriched the remaster with locations, quests, characters and dialogues not available in the original.
