Golf Club: Wasteland is an arcade golf game with post-apocalyptic adventure game elements where we discover the reasons for the extinction of the human race on planet Earth as a lone astronaut.
Golf Club: Wasteland is the debut production from Demagog Studio, focusing on the fate of a rich Martian who decides to return to Earth for a round of golf. The problem is that all humanity on Earth is extinct, so his goal, in addition to scoring a perfect shot, is to find out the reasons behind the failure of people on their home planet.
The action of the game is set in an alternative future, when humanity on Earth became extinct. This does not mean, however, that such a fate met the entire human species, because the rich in time escaped to Mars and now visit Earth only to relax. All because, in its current state, the locations on Earth are the perfect place to play golf. For these reasons, we control a lone astronaut - Charley, who arrives on Earth to score the perfect shot and wanders through deserted shopping malls, cities or museums, where he comes across various messages and remnants of people who once lived there. It is thanks to these and the Radio Nostalgia broadcasts that we gradually learn the story behind the downfall of humanity.
Golf Club: Wasteland combines several genres in one, focusing on learning the story and finding clues to uncover it, but also on platform game segments where the jetpack plays a big role, as well as environmental puzzles. Above all, however, we explore a desolate world and play golf, and our golf course is composed of residential buildings, disco clubs, gas stations, hypermarkets and toy factories. Our holes, on the other hand, are various items and objects, such as old toilets or rain showers, which we have to hit precisely in order to advance further.
The game has three difficulty levels and the gameplay can be adjusted depending on whether you are interested only in the storyline, want to experience challenging and unforgiving segments of golf, or rather want to have fun with both.
Golf Club: Wasteland mixes 2D styling with 3D elements, refined animations and thoughtful motion physics. In the game we hear a diverse soundtrack at times contrasting with the action taking place on screen. Additionally, the developers add to each copy of the game an illustrated graphic novel showing the story of the protagonist, as well as the official digital soundtrack.
