A platformer in which, in addition to jumping on the platforms, our task is to reflect balls of various properties. Depending on the mode selected, the tasks in HackyZack consist in reaching the exit or destroying all the diamonds on the board.
HackyZack is an original platform game that made its debut on PC and was later released on Nintendo Switch. The independent studio Spaceboy Games was responsible for developing the PC version, Kittehface Software helped with creating the Switch version.
In HackyZack, the action is shown from the side. As we play, we take on the role of the eponymous boy who travels across more than a hundred levels located in six different worlds. In addition to the genre's characteristic platform jumping, the gameplay is based on bouncing balls with various properties such as increased elasticity or slower movement.
The tasks vary depending on the game mode; while in Goal Mode we have to reach the exit with the ball, in Target Mode our goal is to destroy all the diamonds on the board as quickly as possible, just like in the popular Arcanoid. As we progress, we collect stickers that give us access to challenges from the Target Mode and unlock new protagonists.
On PC, HackyZack enables us to play solo, the Nintendo Switch version, however, also offers a local multiplayer mode.
Two-dimensional graphics of HackyZack the pixel art technique. The battles are accompanied by a relaxing soundtrack composed by Vincent Rubinetti.

Video Chums: 3 / 5 by A.J. Maciejewski
HackyZack can be fun if you enjoy intensely challenging 2D games but for everyone else, it's simply too irritating to recommend.
Destructoid: 7.5 / 10 by Peter Glagowski
Even if I'm not in love with HackyZack, I still really like it. It only lasts a few hours, but it's a few hours of genuine fun that makes you feel good. There is no need to complicate that further.
Handsome Phantom: 7 / 10 by Philip Neyman
HackyZack is a challenging retro-ish affair that will speak to fans from the 16-bit era or so. If you enjoy challenging platformers, this game is for you.
