Humorous FPS from Squanch Games studio, co-founded by Justin Roiland - one of the creators of Rick and Morty series. In High on Life we play as a bounty hunter, facing off against space invaders using an incredibly talkative arsenal.
High on Life is an FPS filled with absurd humor. The latter is not surprising, considering the fact that it was developed by the Squanch Games studio, a team co-founded by Justin Roiland - one of the creators of the popular animated series called Rick and Morty.
High on Life presents a grim vision. Earth has been invaded by aliens who use humans as... drugs. The main character of the game is a freshly graduated from high school, devoid of ambition and plans for the future. Unexpectedly, the protagonist becomes a galactic bounty hunter and his task is to stop the invaders led by evil Garmantuous. Our hero is not alone, as he is constantly accompanied by his guns and cold weapons, which are... intelligent and very talkative life forms. The various instruments of murder have their own faces and personalities and often share their observations and comments on the events in which they take part. In addition, there are various funny characters scrolling in the background.
In High on Life we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The adventure leads us through various planets and other vast locations scattered in space, among which we can find a jungle and a city built on the surface of an asteroid. In each of them there are tasks to perform as well as hordes of aliens which we have to kill. We do it with the help of an extensive arsenal, which includes a pistol, rifle, shotgun, knife and more sophisticated tools of murder, such as a grenade launcher that shoots... small "grenade babies" (however, as the grenade launcher itself says - its "babies" die quickly, but there is no need to worry, because new ones are born very quickly). Apart from the standard fire mode, all the givens have special abilities. As we progress, we gain more powerful weapons, which allows us to face more and more challenges.
High on Life features colorful graphics made in a pleasant to the eye, cartoon style (however, the game is quite brutal). During the game we constantly have before our eyes the faces of the weapons held in our hands, which not only comment what is happening on the screen, but also make various faces.

Game Ratings for High on Life Video Game.
Destructoid: 5.5 / 10 by Chris Carter
As-is, High on Life is great weekend Game pickup, and something to go into with caution if you’re a fan of Roiland’s work.
TheGamer: 2 / 5 by Stacey Henley
High on Life just isn’t very good, and there’s not much more to say. I think a lot of people are taking the route of ‘well, if you love this humour you might enjoy it’, but I already do love this humour and I did not enjoy it. It’s the ghost of video games past, with boring shooting and a bafflingly slim progression loop propped up by bad jokes that feel like some bros on a podcast writing their own Interdimensional Cable skits. It’s free on Game , but your time on this planet is precious. Give this one a miss.
TheSixthAxis: 7 / 10 by Stefan L
High on Life is a conflicted game. On the one hand it's a solid shooter that often feels like more than the sum of its parts, and comes with an engaging art style and ideas, but the sense of humour is just so subjective that it's hard to recommend to anyone that isn't a die hard Rick and Morty fan.
