John Carpenter's Toxic Commando is a first-person shooter based on the works of John Carpenter, an American director mainly known for his 1980s horror movies (including The Fog, The Thing and Christine). It was developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment.
The game is set in the near future. A failed attempt to control Earth's nuclear energy has released an eldritch monster - the Sludge God. The beast starts terraforming the area, destroying the soil and turning people into zombies.
The last hope humanity has against the monster is the scientist who's freed it in the first place. In order to carry out his plan, he needs a group of mercenaries. They're all, unfortunately, too expensive, and so he must make do with the titular Toxic Commandos.
The player controls one of the titular characters, fighting against the Sludge God's undead hordes alone or alongside friends. The game features several character classes, which differ in of playstyle and equipment.
Our characters can be equipped with short and long firearms, grenades and katanas. We can cut down undead using our characters' special abilities or running them down with vehicles.
The game's story campaign can be completed in its entirety in singleplayer and online co-op.
