A story-driven first person shooter from Reburn studio (formerly known as 4K Ukraine) - authors of the extremely popular Metro series. La Quimera takes us to the futuristic version of Latin America from the year 2064. We play as agents of a private military company, using futuristic arsenal and exoskeletons on the battlefields.
La Quimera is a work of the Ukrainian studio Reburn, previously known as 4A Ukraine. In 2014, the main branch of 4A Games (known mainly for the Metro series) was relocated to Malta, and in 2020 it ended up in the hands of Embracer Group. From that point on, the team from Kiev in Ukraine began to operate independently, which was officially emphasized by the change of its name to Reburn in 2025. Although the rights to the 4A Games brand remained in the hands of 4A Malta, both teams can use the proprietary 4A Engine technology.
Similar to previous games from this Ukrainian team, we are once again dealing with a first-person shooter (FPS) that puts a strong emphasis on narration. This time, however, the creators take us to futuristic version of Latin America.
The action of La Quimera takes place in 2064. In the game's version of the future, most of the large national states have disappeared from the world map, replaced by micro-countries relying on mercenaries used to resolve political and corporate conflicts.
During the game, we play as agents of one of the private military companies, also known as PMCs, who end up in Latin America.
In La Quimera we watch the action from the character's point of view (FPP). The driving force of the game are missions that throw us into various places - from metropolises to the jungle. We often have to reach for weapons when trying to complete assigned tasks.
We make use of an advanced arsenal, combat skills, and an exoskeleton on the battlefield. As we progress, we expand our range of weapons, unlock new abilities, and also upgrade our suit, which allows us to gradually adapt our character to individual preferences and the challenges that await us.
The icing on the cake is the AI assistant, which provides us with various information, led by tactical data.
On our way, we encounter both people (from common bandits to snipers) and futuristic robots capable of flying, as well as crawling on walls and ceilings. Apart from regular machines, which are not a major problem to overcome, we often have to face more powerful units that require a display of tactical sense.
We can play La Quimera alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet.
La Quimera operates based on the Unreal Engine 4.
