Love, Money, Rock'n'Roll is a narrative adventure game inspired by Japanese visual novel games. The game tells the story of the son of Soviet immigrants attending a private high school in the Land of the Cherry Blossom.
Love, Money, Rock'n'roll is an adventure game in the form of visual novel. It is the first commercial project of Soviet Games, a studio with free Everlasting Summer to its credit.
The action of the game takes place in modern Japan. The main character is the son of Soviet immigrants named Nikolai, who attends a private high school. The story begins when the boy and his parents begin to be interested in a group of influential and wealthy people, as a result of which certain facts from the past of the protagonist's family come to light.
Intertwined in this story are four girls connected with Nikolai. Among them are his childhood friend named Himitsu, ex-girlfriend Catherine, who is the granddaughter of the school's owner Ellie, and Kogome, who is the president of the class where the protagonist studies.
Love, Money, Rock'n'roll is a classically realized visual novel adventure. So while playing, we are mainly concerned with following the storyline and making decisions at key moments that shape its further course.
Choices made at the beginning of the story ultimately steer it into one of several main plot paths, each of which revolves around one of the girls. To see all that the game has to offer, therefore, you have to play through it multiple times.
The production offers only a single-player mode.
The strong point of the game is the quality. Unlike typical representatives of the visual novel genre, which present mainly static images, in Love, Money, Rock'n'roll both backgrounds and characters have many animated elements. The whole game is built on the Unity3D engine, but the graphics is mostly two-dimensional, and the possibilities of this technology are used mainly in effects that beautify the graphics.
