MechWarrior 5: Clans

We play as a promising pilot of the Smoke Jaguar clan, who takes the lead of a five-person squad freshly after completing their training, participating in Operation Revival. Unlike MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, this game features a linear story campaign. The player meets new characters, takes part in personal conflicts, faces moral dilemmas and takes part in events that affect the course of the war, and therefore the future of the entire Inner Sphere.

Mechanics

MechWarrior 5: Clan has us piloting a giant mech during missions, which take place on various planets in the Inner Sphere. The areas differ in appearance and terrain; we'll explore jungles, deserts, city streets, canyons and swamps.

During each mission, we'll be opposed by dangerous enemies. The game features simulation elements, and so, combat is accordingly challenging. The mechs are slow, durable and armed with a metric ton of weaponry each. As befitting a walking fortress, learning how to control them takes quite a while. We must also coordinate our actions with the rest of our squad and come to their rescue when they need help.

There's plenty of mech customization to be had, according to our whims and needs. There are many different weapons, equipment and clan upgrades to choose from. Before starting each mission, it's worth checking the planetary conditions and adapting our machine to the biome.

Game modes

MechWarrior 5: Clans s singleplayer and online co-op.

Technical aspects

MechWarrior 5: Clans runs on the Unreal Engine 5, which it makes very good use of. The mechas and the areas are all very diverse and detailed.
