Release Date: January 21, 2022 Early Access
Mirror 2: Project X is a sequel to the popular puzzle game with RPG elements and a fair dose of eroticism. The fantasy worlds have been replaced with a secret organization that has a lot in common with S, and the plot centers around a captured succubus.
Mirror 2: Project X is the sequel to the story-driven puzzle and erotica game Mirror, combining the visual novel genre with RPG and match-3 mechanics. The first installment was praised by players, which encouraged studio Kagami Works to create a sequel to its debut project and a handful of spin-offs. In 2020, the developers organized a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, although it was not successful.
The first installment of the series featured not exactly a single story, but several unconnected fantasy-themed tales. Mirror 2: Project X slightly changed the concept, because instead of a magic mirror we have an organization FBRP, which deals with detecting, catching and investigating supernatural phenomena (like S). However, even the second one does not avoid strong, often controversial erotic subtext.
We take on the role of Naoto Jingui, a researcher who has been given an unusual mission: to make with the first captured succubus. However, this "protégée" can do more than just seduce: her powers bend space-time. Naoto, pressured by his superiors to deliver results and increasingly fond of the succubus, will have to make decisions that will affect his life.
Just like the first installment of the series, Mirror 2: Project X combines RPG and puzzle elements. On the one hand, we have a story, which is determined by the decisions made during the game. On the other hand: confrontations based on matching elements on the board so that they are ed in combinations. This time we find a total of 11 gems: 6 "ordinary" and 5 special, and during the battle we also have to watch out for the opponent's special abilities.
The title was made available in early access with a single chapter, but the full game consists of six episodes.
In contrast to the previous production, Mirror 2: Project X is based on 3D graphics, although the style derived from Japanese comics and animation has been retained. Only Japanese dubbing is still included. The whole game is built on Unreal Engine 4 technology.
