An arcade monster truck racing game. The gameplay in Monster Jam: Crush It! is based on the rules of its predecessors. We can try our skills in several game modes: racing, where we have to drive on special tracks, survival, and stunt mode. Monster Jam: Crush It! offers the possibility of playing on licensed Monster Jam arenas and a number of fictional off-road tracks.
Monster Jam: Crush It! is an arcade monster truck racing game for PS4, SWITCH and XONE. The title is another installment of the popular Monster Jam series which was bought by GameMill Publishing and Team6 Game Studios after the resignation of Activision.
The general gameplay premise do not deviate significantly from the solutions known from Monster Jam Battlegrounds that was released the year before. We can try our skills in modes that are typical do Monster Jam tournaments: racing—where we have to drive on a special track—and Freestyle in which we have to show the capabilities of our monster truck. Similarly to its predecessor, Monster Jam: Crush It! offers the possibility to play on licensed Monster Jam arenas (including Sam Boyd Stadium where finales take place) and a number of fictional off-road tracks. In the game, there are 28 completely new maps that let us try our skills in three different gameplay variants (i.e. time trial, survival mode, and stunt mode). In total, it gives us 96 challenges to complete, during which we can sit behind the wheel of all licensed Monster Jam trucks.
As far as game modes are concerned, Monster Jam: Crush It! is not significantly different from its predecessor. The game is meant mostly for single player play, and the only form of competition with other players are the internet leaderboards.
Graphics-wise, Monster Jam: Crush It! for PS4, SWITCH and XONE is a significant step forward in comparison with its predecessor, making use of Unreal Engine 4 which works perfectly on eight-generation consoles. One of the title’s strengths is its original soundtrack recorded by the experienced Deon Voss.
