The game is a sequel to the well-received 2016 Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You.
Orwell: Ignorance is Strength is an unusual game with elements of both adventure and simulator games. The story of the game is inspired by real events (e.g. the increasing importance of social media and the so-called fake news) as well as popular political thrillers. The game was developed by Osmotic Studios responsible and is a sequel to the 2016's Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You.
In Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, players assume the role of one of the government officials working at the mysterious "Bureau" and responsible for overseeing Orwell – a top-secret wiretap program. Players are tasked with investigating the reason of the rising political tension in the country. In order to do this, one has to tap into the lives of several people: the executive editor of The People's Voice, Raban Vhart, his wife Karen, and brother Illy. Players are to decide how far they are willing to go for the sake of their country. Is truth sacred? Or maybe Ignorance is a strength indeed?
Orwell: Ignorance is Strength is a quite unusual game. The gameplay revolves around reading (e.g. people's profiles from Orwell Program, website articles, social media posts, and private conversations), analyzing the acquired information and making decisions. Time plays a significant role in the game described herein. The player has to decide what to do during particular parts of a day and how to react to sudden events.
Orwell: Ignorance is Strength features only the single-player mode.
The game delivers rather simple visuals based on 2D boards with drawings of characters and text.
The game was published in three episodes: Episode One: Thesis, Episode Two: Antithesis and Episode Three: Synthesis.
