Outbreak Island

Mechanics

Outbreak Island is a fairly typical survival game, with our primary objective being to survive at all costs. To do so, we need shelter, food and water. We must also do battle with the mutated inhabitants of the island, who storm our hideout weekly.

The game's map is vast and covered with abandoned buildings, explorable on foot or via other means, such as a car or on horseback. Exploring is, of course, risky, as there are plenty of enemies standing in our way, many of which much larger than us. We can fight them with a wide arsenal of weaponry, including crossbows and rocket launchers.

The day and night cycle plays an important part in the game. At daytime, we're completely cut off from any sort of power. During this time we can indulge in simpler activities, such as gathering wood or hunting. At night, however, the contamination triggers all electric devices. This lets us expand our hideout and access underground research facilities filled with valuable loot.

Outbreak Island also features a crafting system and character growth. Over time, we acquire new skills that make survival easier and accumulate resources used to upgrade our weapons.
