Dynamic FPS with roguelike elements. In Post Void we take on the role of a hero who dashes through procedurally generated stages and eliminates hordes of enemies. Graphics is kept in bright retro style.
Post Void is an incredibly dynamic FPS with elements of roguelike genre. It was developed by an independent Swedish studio YCJY.
In Post Void we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The hero holds an idol figurine in his left hand, which replaces his life bar. When it gets empty - the protagonist dies. The only way to fill it up is to eliminate hordes of enemies. The protagonist has nothing else to do but to grab his weapon in his right hand and set off in a mad rush through 11 levels, killing anyone who comes across his barrel on the way. After each mission we get the opportunity to choose one of three random upgrades, among which we can find new murder tools and various perks to increase our combat potential.
The gameplay is extremely fast, so death is not hard to come by. The matter is complicated by the fact that the stages cannot be learned by heart, because they are generated procedurally. How well we do on the battlefield is constantly rated by the scoring system, which encourages us to play the game again and again to set records.
Post Void features simple graphics in an early FPSs style. The whole game is full of strange shapes, bright colors and flashes.

Game Hype UK: 90 / 100
Post Void is an extremely fun yet stress inducing game that leaves the player on the edge of their seat trying to get beat their high score. I would recommend checking out Post Void if you get the chance.

The best way to sum up Post Void in any meaningful way would be ‘if Quentin Tarantino had somehow developed Doom instead of directing films’. The game has all the hallmarks of the director’s early works; it’s ultra-violent, hyper visceral and littered with barefoot baddies in sharp suits. The arcade style of short, sweet and brutal gameplay, rather than producing a lengthy campaign is a bold choice, and while your mileage may vary, I felt Post Void was the perfect bite-sized shooter that offered up a lot of fun despite its short runtime. The gameplay is engaging and snappy enough to the point I didn’t care about the game only being an hour long, or the repetitive soundtrack pumping in my ears like a German discotech. All I wanted to do was run through the myriad of creatures with a shotgun and make it as far as possible before being sent back to the beginning. Even now I can feel myself being drawn back for just one more hop through Post Void’s grotesque world…

Post Void is an excellent mashup between classic DOOM and Hotline Miami that can take minutes to beat, but hours to master.
