A spin-off of the extremely popular game Rocket League, which is hugely successful on the e-sports scene. The game is a simplified, 2,5D version of the original and is designed for mobile devices.
Rocket League Sideswipe is a mobile spin-off of the popular Rocket League game. As in the original, the game is about playing football matches using remote-controlled cars.
Unlike Rocket League on PC and consoles, Sideswipe is played in a 2.5D space - the graphics are 3D, but we only see the gameplay from the side. Each match lasts two minutes. The aim of the game is to knock the oversized ball into the opponent's goal. Just like in the original, the cars are very agile, can perform impressive aerial stunts and have access to a speed booster. Sideswipe also features the familiar Hoops mode from the original, which turns goals into basketball hoops. The controls are touch-based and accessible to beginners, but allow more advanced players to manoeuvre their cars with great precision.
During the game we acquire cosmetic items with which we can modify the appearance of our car. They do not have any impact on gameplay. By modifying the colours and accessories we can create our own unique car.
The most important part of the game are multiplayer matches, played in teams of one or two players. We can play with friends or with randomly chosen people. The game also includes ranking matches for players who value rivalry.
Graphically, Sideswipe looks very similar to the original. The graphics, although not very realistic, impress with their style and colours. Particularly well presented are the particle effects occurring after scoring a goal.
