The game is set in a flooded world, most of the land submerged unnderwater. It tells the story of a ship crew, whose vessel was stolen, while their captain went missing.
The crew boards their own ship to reclaim it, setting out on a journey to learn what happened to their captain.
Saltsea Chronicles is an adventure game heavily emphasizing its story. The player must explore the world, talk to NPCs and make decisions that shape how the plot develops.
The world consists of many islands, to which players can head in any order, anytime they please, taking different crew onto different expeditions. Our choices affect character relationships, often causing tensions we must de-escalate.
Aside from the main storyline, there are also many optional side quests available. An additional activity is the playable Spoils card game, the people's favorite pastime in this world.
The game is only playable in singleplayer.
