Second Front is a strategy game where the action is played in rounds. The player controls soldiers belonging to different countries that fought in World War II. The list of divisions includes several hundred items. We are talking about both infantry and armored units (including the famous ones, e.g. Panzer 4). We decide on the tactics for a given battle, as well as the next steps of the soldiers. We also have the possibility to adjust our equipment ( e.g. weapons).
The battles take place on maps divided into hexagons. In the locations you can find various buildings and decorations (in both cases there are several dozen different variants available). Each script lasts sixty turns - from dawn to night. After that time the results of the battle are determined.
The game interface has been designed in such a way as to reconcile the high level of complexity (e.g. we have to manually rotate the turrets) with intuitiveness. The developers also contributed to the design of artificial intelligence - AI uses specific strategies, not just reacting to the player's actions.
Second Front has single player mode only.
Second Front has a simple graphic design, which combines two and three-dimensional elements. The battlefield and units are characterized by a low level of detail, resembling more the figures in a battle game than real army and war theatres. This makes the graphics very clear.
