An expanded version of the oldschool platformer from 2014. Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX offers various gameplay improvements, an option to rewind after a failed move, over 20 playable characters, and a coop mode in addition to singleplayer.
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX is an expanded version of the Shovel Knight platformer originally released in 2014. This edition has been enriched with a number of additions and improvements - including space for twenty playable characters and the ability to undo a failed move.
Just like in the original, the development was the responsibility of the independent Yacht Club Games studio, also known for such works as Mina the Hollower.
The original story focuses on the fate of the titular hero. As Shovel Knight - a hero armed with a characteristic shovel, we set off to fight against evil. It takes on the role of a sorceress leading the organization named Order of No Quarter.
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX is a classic platformer that tests our combat and exploration skills. During the game we collect numerous treasures, and also face bosses, forcing us to use of appropriate tactics.
The extended version allows us to take control of one of twenty playable characters with different skills. Among them, there was a place for various variants of knights, and even antagonists. It is also possible to create our own character.
In Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX, new mechanics were introduced, thanks to which we can undo a failed move (Rewind) or pause the game to plan the next moves (Save States). We also have access to over three hundred gameplay customization options. With their help, we can reduce the level of difficulty or give levels an unusual appearance and rules.
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX offers both single-player fun and cooperation. The coop gameplay involves competitions on a shared screen or through a network connection.
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX is a two-dimensional game visually referring to classic 8-bit titles. It is characterized by a simple, pixel art graphic design. The add-on allows to turn on stereoscopic 3D, creating the illusion of depth.
